Reverend Moore's Sermon Series on Abundance Continues
What does abundance mean? It means that we have more than enough. Our society tends to focus on what we do no have. The Bible, however, invites us to appreciate what we do have, which has been give to us by God. It seems that every time we open the newspaper or turn on the television, there is a story about some new crisis in the political or economic arena. We keep hearing how there is so much bad news. We all face hardships in life, but there are many blessing God wants us to enjoy. Our struggles are real, but God is doing so many good things in our world. God has and will continue to provide abundantly for us. This sermon series will focus on God's blessings and how we can live with a sense of the Lord's abundant mercies. Each week, we will focus on one particular gift that God has given use to be thankful for.
July 12-Exodus Ch. 16: Enough for Today While the Israelites are in the wilderness, they worry if they will have any food to eat. God provides more that enough manna for the day, but the manna goes bad if they try to hoard it. They learn that God will give them enough for today and to trust that God will provide for tomorrow.
July 19-Genesis Ch. 1 and Psalm 104: Creation God's work as Creator is wondrous and amazing! Just look a t the animals, the beauty of the earth, the grandeur of the mountains, and the multitude of stars in the sky. God has created so much that we can enjoy.
July 26-Genesis 2: 1-3 and Hosea 10:12: Time and Sabbath People today have busier calendars than ever. We feel pressure to be on the go and often feel pressed for time. How can we receive the gift of this day that God has given us? And how do we find the time to feed our souls within the regular rhythms of our lives?
